Signs Parents Often Notice

Every child is different. Parents often reach out when they notice patterns such as:

  • Trouble staying focused on
    homework or in class
  • Acting without thinking or
    interrupting often
  • Restlessness or
    difficulty sitting still
  • Big emotions, frustration or
    frequent meltdowns
  • Challenges with reading,
    writing or learning
  • Difficulty with friendships
    or family routines

These signs do not mean a child has ADHD. Many factors can affect attention and behavior, which is why a careful evaluation matters. A formal ADHD diagnosis is made by a qualified provider after a full evaluation, and we are glad to coordinate with your child’s pediatrician.

A Brain-Based Look at Attention and Behavior

Attention, impulse control and learning depend on many parts of the brain communicating well. Research suggests that children with ADHD can show differences in how certain brain areas connect during tasks that require attention.

Functional neurology looks at how a child’s brain and nervous system are functioning. Our team may look at factors such as eye movement control, sensory-motor integration, visual tracking and retained primitive reflexes to help identify patterns that may be contributing to a child’s challenges.

The brain’s ability to change and adapt, called neuroplasticity, is central to our approach. Our goal is to help families understand more and explore ADHD treatment options that fit their child.

How Our Assessment Works

We start by listening to you, then look closely at how your child’s brain is functioning before recommending anything.

  1. Step 1

    Parent Consultation

    Share your child’s history, your
    concerns and your goals.

  2. Step 2

    Brain-Based Assessment

May include eye movement and visual tracking testing, primitive reflex screening and a QEEG brain map, a non-invasive recording of brain activity.

  3. Step 3

    Review of Findings

We explain what we found in plain language and answer your questions.

  4. Step 4

    Individualized Plan

Together we decide on next steps that fit your child and family.

What Your Child’s Plan May Include

Every plan is individualized. Depending on assessment findings, a plan may include:

  • Customized sensory-motor and eye movement (oculomotor) activities
  • Neurofeedback training, a non-invasive, reward-based brain training
    approach, when appropriate
  • Nutrition and lifestyle guidance from our integrative team
  • Home activities and parent coaching so progress continues between visits

Our care is designed to work alongside your child’s school, pediatrician and other providers.
We do not advise starting or stopping any prescribed medication. Results vary from child to child.

No. Our team works alongside your child's pediatrician and other providers. We encourage you to keep them informed, and we do not advise starting or stopping any prescribed medication.

Can you diagnose ADHD?

A formal ADHD diagnosis is made by a qualified provider after a full evaluation. Our assessment looks at how your child’s brain and nervous system are functioning, and we are glad to share findings and coordinate with your child’s pediatrician.
